Boy Scout Camp in Iowa Hit By Tornado

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Mr. Prepared Here – Did you see the news on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, about the Boy Scout Camp in Iowa being hit by a tornado. What’s the Boy Scout Motto “BE PREPARED”. Boy Scouts teach preparedness, I know I was a Boy Scout when I was a kid. This just goes to show you a disaster can happen at anytime and anywhere. Tragically, 4 Boy Scouts were killed and 40 plus were injured. Our hearts go out to the families of boy scouts for the lost of their boys. We all feel their pain. This tornado just dropped in with little to no warning. That’s how many disasters happen. Are you prepared for a disaster or emergency?

Because the day before the boy scouts had preparedness training as stated in the June 13, 2008, Orlando Sentinel. Ethan Hession a 13 Year Old Boy Scout on NBC’S Today’s Show stated “We knew that we need to place tourniquets on wounds that were bleeding too much, we had first aid kits, we had everything. We knew about this. We knew how to do it”. Just think what could have happened if they were not as prepared!

You can be the Boy Scout in your neighborhood by being better prepared. Do have at least a 72 hour survival kit for each member of the family? First aid kit, reserve food supply if not why! Here’s an example: First aid kit, water bottles and some food bars in your car just in case you or someone else gets hurt in an accident. Maybe your car breaks down and it’s hot or cold outside some food and water might help you get through until help arrives. Or maybe you just help someone else out, that would be ok too, wouldn’t it? Remember the movie Pay it Forward.

Be Safe. Be Prepared. This is Mr. Prepared, bringing Awareness to Preparedness.
